WHAT IS THE PARENT BOARD?
The Gorton Children's Drop-In Center Parent Board is a group of parents who organize and carry out the fund raising that benefits and promotes the Drop-In Center. The Board meets on the third Monday evening of each month, and occasionally sets dates for social activities as well.
Funds raised through the Parent Board's efforts are used solely to benefit the Drop-In Center, at the discretion of the Drop-In Center Director. Money raised by the Parent Board has been used to offset operating costs of the center, to purchase new educational materials, a new computer system, an outdoor play-system, developmental toys, art supplies, and the vestibule addition for the Drop-In entrance. Additional monies raised also go to the continuing education for the staff and Director through classes and conferences.
